Contributions should combine academic rigour with accessible writing and a clear perspective.
Before submitting, use the following guidelines to prepare your contribution for the UGoveRN Blog.
Target length
Posts should be approximately 1,000 words. This provides enough space for thoughtful analysis while keeping the contribution focused and engaging.
Tone & style
Write in a formal but accessible style. Maintain scholarly rigour while making the argument readable to non-specialist audiences. Avoid unnecessary jargon and explain technical terms where needed.
Visuals & multimedia
Where relevant, include images, videos, charts or other media that support the argument. Authors must have the right to publish all materials and should provide appropriate captions and source attribution.
Focus & perspective
Contributions should offer a clear viewpoint or interpretation supported by evidence or theoretical framing, and demonstrate academic or societal relevance.
Connect the conversation
Where appropriate, engage with relevant existing UGoveRN posts or research. Internal links help connect individual contributions to wider conversations across the network.
References & citations
Cite factual claims, quotations and external ideas. Include a reference list using APA 7th edition and use in-text citations with links where possible, preferably directing readers to open-access sources.
Research can travel further when it is written for conversation.
