On 17 December at 15:00 CET, new UGoveRN member Prof. Maciej (Maciek) Jacek Nowak from the University of Szczecin will present his research and vision on spatial planning in Poland. Prof. Nowak is a legal scholar and urban planning specialist whose work focuses on spatial planning instruments, comparative planning systems, and the legal dimensions of spatial governance. He currently heads the Department of Real Estate in the Faculty of Economics at the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin (ZUT) and serves as Chair of the Legal-Urban Planning Team within the National Committee for Spatial Planning of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Maciek has authored numerous publications on spatial planning, urban law, and development. His expertise and comparative perspective make him particularly well positioned to stimulate cross-national research within UGoveRN, including projects examining how regulatory frameworks and institutional contexts shape planning practices and urban development. Therefore, during this session, we will also explore specific avenues for collaboration.
