UGoveRN panel at Law & Society Association Conference 2022
The Global Meeting of the Law and Society Association occurred in Lisbon, Portugal, from July 13-16, 2022. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was conducted partly online. Among the attendees were members of UGoveRN, who had their own conference session titled “New Approaches to Spatial Governance,” which was organized by Tobias Arnoldussen and Danielle Chevalier.

Sofia Arrias Bittencourt’s presentation focused on the ethnographic visualization model, which sheds light on governance stakeholder networks, their opportunities, and challenges. The model provides a platform for discussing and initiating change, offering a tangible framework for redesigning systems to facilitate transition.

In his presentation, Michiel Stapper discussed how the role of contracts, community intermediaries, and participation is evolving and influencing urban politics.

Sara Özogul’s presentation, in collaboration with Tuna-Tasan-Kok, Andre Legarza, and Nagwa Kady, focused on the impact of a fragmented governance landscape and complex public sector regulations on the behavior of the property industry and housing production in the Metropolitan Region of Amsterdam. The presentation argued that the diverse and intricate regulatory framework in the public sector has significant implications for the functioning of the property industry and the overall housing market in the region.
